Is there any difference between wifi Netgear wifi booster and extender?

mywifiext.net

As we know, internet has become an important aspect of our day to day lives. whether it’s an official work, online shopping, entertainment and many others things, we all need a strong internet connection and Wi-Fi. With the help of Wi-Fi, we could use internet from anywhere inside our home. But sometimes our router is not strong or capable of generating Wi-Fi signals that could cover our entire home with strong Wi-Fi signals. It could be due to the router itself or due to the size and shape of our home. Under these conditions, we should use a Netgear Wi-Fi booster or extender to cover our entire house with strong Wi-Fi signals.

No Difference between the Netgear Wi-Fi booster and extender

A Netgear wireless range extender or a booster is used to increase the weak Wi-Fi range of our existing home Wi-Fi router. The Netgear booster and extender are both the same. There is no difference between them. Both of the terms are used to describe a device which is used to increase the Wi-Fi range of weak home Wi-Fi router. A booster will boost the weak Wi-Fi signal and extender will increase the range of weak Wi-Fi signal. So, technically both are doing the same work. That s increasing the strength of wifi signal of home Wi-Fi router to reach throughout our home.

How Netgear extender works?

To use a Netgear wireless range extender, we need to set it up first with our home Wi-Fi router. TO do that we could easily follow the web browser setup or wireless protected setup (WPS). Once the setup will get completed the Netgear wireless range extender will start working. The netgear wireless range extender will receive weak signals from the home Wi-Fi router and will amplify or boost those weak signals to reach deep inside our home. That means, once the signals are extended by the Netgear wireless range extender we could use the Wi-Fi from anywhere inside our home.

Placement is important for boosting and extending Wi-Fi signals

The Netgear wireless range extender would not be bale to boost or extend the Wi-Fi signals if, it would not be placed in a right location. Ideal location to place the Netgear wireless extender would be midway from the point where our router is and the point where we are having the Wi-Fi signal receptions problem. Once the Netgear extender will be placed like that it would start boosting and extending Wi-Fi signals all around our home.

What is wireless protected setup?

Netgear wireless range extenders are best when it comes to increase the wifi range of our old wifi router. We get a consistent and strong wifi signal throughout our home with the help of Netgear wireless range extender. But, before using the Netgear wireless range extender at our home, we have to set it up first with our existing wifi router. We could setup the Netgear wireless range extender either manually orautomatically. we do not want to do it manually and want it to be automatic then, we certainly have to use the web browser setup to setup the Netgear wireless range extender.

WPS (Wireless protected setup)

Wireless protected setup is a great way to setup the Netgear wireless range extender automatically. We do not have to make a any settings or changes by our own but the Netgear wireless range extender will pickup the router settings automatically from the home wifi router itself. That means, the Netgear wireless range extender will pick up all the settings like the security type, the password, wifi network name automatically. We do not have to write it down by ourselves. As a result, we do not have to waste much our time.

Steps to follow while using WPS

While performing the wireless protected setup, we have to press the WPS button at the back of Netgear wireless range extender for threes seconds. Then, within two minutes of pressing that button, we also have to press the WPS button on our home router as well. But, we have to keep one thing in mind is that while performing the wireless protected setup the home router and the Netgear wireless range extender should be very close to each other or should be in the same room so, the settings could be applied easily.

Last step of WPS

After pressing the WPS buttons on the Netgear wireless range extender and the router, it will take two minutes to apply all the settings. After two minutes the Netgear wireless range extender will start working. The last step of the WPS would be placing the Netgear wireless range extender at a right location. We could not place the Netgear wireless range extender too close or far away from our home router. But, the Netgear wireless range extender should be placed midway from the point where our router is and the point where we wish to use the Netgear wireless range extender.

How to setup Netgear extender using web?

Netgear extender is a great device when it comes to increase the wifi range of our old existing home wifi router. The Netgear wireless range extender does not only increase the wifi range inside our home but, it also increases the wifi signal strength throughout our home as a result we receive a consistent and stable wifi signal throughout our home. The first step involved in using the benefits of Netgear wireless range extender is to set it up. There are different ways by which could setup the Netgear wireless range extender. We could do it manually or it could be done automatically as well.

 Setup on web

If, we wish to setup the Netgear wireless range extender manually, we have to use Web Browser Setup so that, we could set it up as per our requirement. Before using the Web browser setup, we have to connect our any desktop computer or a laptop with the Netgear wireless range extender. Once connected, we have to open any web browser like a google chrome or Mozilla Firefox on that desktop computer or laptop. After that, we have to write www.mywifiext.net on the address bar of that web browser.

Initializing the setup

After typing www.mywifiext.net on the address bar, we have to search it. After searching for www.mywifiext.net, we would be on a screen which would ask us to create a new account with Netgear. So, we have to fill our username, email and password over there to create a New account. After finishing with that, we would be on the setup screen where we have to make settings as per our needs and choices. The first thing that we have to select is the wifi network which we want to extend that means over there, we have to select our home wifi network name.

Completing the setup process

After selecting tour home wifi network on that wifi list, we would be asked to choose the wifi network name, we wish to set for the wifi network that will be extended by the Netgear wireless range extender. Then, we have to select or choose a new password for the wifi network extended by the Netgear wireless range extender. At last, we have to connect our all the wifi devices with the Netgear wireless range extender and we have to click finish. After two minutes the setup process will be completed and the Netgear wireless range extender will start working.
