We could setup the Netgear wireless range extender by either using the web browser setup or the wireless protected setup. NO matter which one we use sometimes, we are not able to make sure that is it extending the Wi-Fi range of our home Wi-Fi router or not. There are few things by which we could easily determine if our Netgear wireless range extender is boosting the Wi-Fi range of our existing home Wi-Fi router or not. We will be discussing each and every of them below.

Router link LED

The simplest way to check if the Netgear wireless range extender is working or not is by checking the status of the Route link LED on it. If the router link LED would be solid green that would mean that the Netgear wireless range extender has a strong connection with our home Wi-Fi router and its working fine. But, if the router link LED is solid red or off then, it would mean that the connection between the Netgear wireless range extender and the home router is poor or they are having no connection at all. Under this situation, we need to move the Netgear wireless range extender closer to our home Wi-Fi router.

Checking the list of Wi-Fi networks available to us

The other simplest way to check if Netgear wireless range extender is working or not is by looking at the list of Wi-Fi networks available to us on any of our Wi-Fi enabled device and looking for a Wi-Fi network name with our home Wi-Fi network name_EXT and its strength. IF there would be such Wi-Fi network on that list with good signal strength that would means the Netgear wireless range extender is working fine and boosting the Wi-Fi signals all around our home.

Connecting to Wi-Fi network extended by the Netgear wireless range extender

The last and the most important step to check if its working or not is to connect any of our Wi-Fi device with the wifi network extend by the Netgear wireless range extender. After connecting to that network, we have to run high-end services like streaming, gamming and others to check if they are running smoothly or not. If those services would be running smoothly, it would mean the Netgear wireless range extender is working properly and boosting the Wi-Fi range all around our home.
